Sunglasses

Een ‘oldie’ gemaakt op een cadeau gekregen doek van 80 x 118. Bij dit schilderij heb ik gebruik gemaakt van een basis met airbrush. Dit bleek een nog al soft karakter te geven terwijl de dame juist een beetje een ruig uiterlijk heeft. Vandaar dat ik vervolgens de paletmessen erbij heb gepakt om het geheel wat meer relief en ruigheid te kunnen geven. Het enige softe dat ik behouden heb is de zonnebril! En om het geheel wat spannender te maken heb ik getracht de essentie van het werk uit te sparen uit het wit. Met als gevolg een glimmende zonnebril als eyecatcher.

Sunglasses is a painting that started of as an airbrush. But considering the rough looking lady that was used as a reference, I was forced to roughen up the painting aswell. Therefore I took the palletknife and plasterd the painting over the airbrushed scenery. The only airbrush remainings are the sunglasses. After these interventions on the subject, was the only thing missing a more focussed view on the subject. And that explaines the white strokes that cover-up the non space thats surrounding her.
