Will it bleed or will it fade?

Weet jij wat het effect op balpen is van dat spul dat dames gebruiken om hun nagellak schoon te maken? Ik deed de test op balpen (biro) en permanent marker zodat jij niet hoeft te twijfelen als je het zelf ooit wil toepassen. Eerst natuurlijk even het waarom; ik wilde een effect creëren waarbij ik de details van de balpen plaatselijk wat kon vervagen. Hierdoor zou het beter samen gaan met de onderlaag die ik al had gemaakt (witte huisverf met daarop letters in acrylverf).
Ik begon met het tekenen van de tekst met balpen en gaf het daarna een omlijning met permanent marker (oranje). Dit zag er zo strak uit dat het een te groot contrast was met de ondergrond. Vandaar dat ik het iets ruwer wilde maken. Ik dacht aan thinner, maar dat schroeit je huid en zou de onderlaag beschadigen. Dus ik had iets minder stevigs nodig en vond dat in het kastje van mijn vrouw; Nagellak remover oftewel Aceton! Het effect was precies dat wat ik beoogd had en is te zien in het filmpje onderaan deze pagina, of kijk eens naar het uiteindelijke schilderij ‘Live Believe Think’.

I did a test with it on biro and permanent marker so that you don’t have to hesitate if you want to experiment with it yourself. The effect I wanted to reach was to make the drawing blurry and distorted. I wanted this, because it would match the underlayer (thinner based house paint) with the letters I made earlier (with acryl). I started with drawing the text with a biro. I wanted to lift the text of the underlayer, so I added outline with orange permanent marker. Now the tekst was finished, but I thought it was looking too clean for the melancholical effect that I was aiming for. So I needed something to rough it up. At that point I thougt of wiping bits out with terpentine or thinner. Although this would destroy the colours and would damage the underlayer. Therefore I needed something subtile, something that wouldnt burn you’re skin. So I thought of aceton. The effect is on the spot and worked out fine.
